Stage 4: Sustain (ongoing)

  • Tooling that supports the model (Jira, Linear, Azure DevOps) configured for flow, not for PMO reporting.
  • Protected time for ceremonies, retros, and improvement work. Not a nice-to-have; book it in every calendar.

What the sponsor must not do

Framework hybridization and Scrumban

The purity debate is a distraction. Mature teams blend. Most "Scrum" teams I see at 18 months have quietly added WIP limits and are tracking cycle time; that is Scrumban. Most "Kanban" platform teams have added planning cadence and forecast horizons.
